Garden Stewardship

Many beautiful gardens quietly become overwhelming. Borders lose definition, plants become congested, seasonal highlights disappear, and what once felt joyful slowly starts to feel like another responsibility competing for your time.

Without regular horticultural care, even well designed gardens can lose their structure, balance and sense of abundance over years. Our garden stewardship service helps mature gardens in Richmond, Kingston and Elmbridge continue to evolve beautifully over time, becoming richer, healthier and more characterful with every season.

Through thoughtful seasonal editing, skilled horticultural care and gentle intervention, we help gardens stay immersive, welcoming and manageable, while supporting biodiversity, resilience and long term garden health. Rather than simply maintaining gardens, we help them mature well.

Whether you need ongoing support throughout the year or focused seasonal resets, our fully insured, two person, horticultural team provides calm, knowledgeable care tailored to your garden and lifestyle.

What we offer

We offer regular, fortnightly or monthly, gardening visits or quarterly seasonal day resets - depending on the size and needs of you and your garden.

Our regular visits include:

  • Seasonal pruning and cutting back of borders and planting areas

  • Thoughtful training and tying in of climbers and wall trained plants

  • Rose care

  • Shaping of ornamental shrubs, espalier, pleach and small trees

  • Hand weeding and considered border editing

  • Composting, mulching and seasonal soil improvement

  • Aesthetically considered bulb planting

  • Kitchen garden and cut flower garden care

  • Seasonal container planting and refreshes

  • Light lawn care and edge refinement where appropriate

  • Hedge cutting and shaping.

Our year round stewardship service is delivered through half day and full day visits across the growing season, alongside key winter visits.

Our seasonal resets are bespoke to your garden but may cover:

Spring
Cutting back, mulching borders, soil improvement, early season weeding, dividing and relocating congested plants, seasonal pruning and preparing the garden for strong healthy growth.

Summer
Filling gaps with seasonal planting, watering support, deadheading and selective pruning to keep gardens flourishing through the growing season.

Autumn
Soil care, restorative planting, bulb planting for spring interest and refreshing containers as the garden transitions into winter.

Winter
Structural pruning, reshaping planting areas and winter container displays to bring beauty and interest through the colder months.

Our approach

We work carefully and responsibly using:

  • Organic, peat-free composts

  • Natural methods of pest and disease management

  • Quiet electric battery tools and traditional hand tools only

  • Thoughtful, low-impact horticultural practices

Every visit includes careful sweeping and tidying, with removal of up to ½ a tonne bag of green waste included per visit.

Stewardship focuses on horticultural care and planting management rather than large-scale landscaping or general property maintenance.

A local and dedicated service

Our garden stewardship service is offered exclusively within Richmond, Kingston and North Elmbridge, allowing us to provide attentive, consistent care across a small number of established gardens close to home.

We intentionally maintain a limited client list to ensure long-term relationships and a high standard of care.

If you are interested in ongoing care for an established garden, we would be pleased to discuss current availability.

“My garden was dark, neglected and overgrown. Thanks to Zoe I now have a lovely space to enjoy, welcoming to both people and wildlife. I have no hesitation in recommending this professional.”
